General

A site is defined as general warehouse area that stores all inventory items, and has only one address. Sites can be comprised of multiple locations.

A location is a specific place to store and track inventory within a site. The only exception to this is the "In-Transit" site generated when inventory is being moved between sites (warehouses).

Generate Locations

Multiple stock locations may be generated at once so long as the locations are to be named in a sequential order. If the locations are mostly sequential, it is still recommended you use this tool and simply delete any locations you do not need. The locations may be generated based on a sequential range or by sequential aisle/bay/shelf/bin locations.

Range

  1. Navigate to the site to which you would like to generate locations.
  2. Click onto the Locations sub-tab.
  3. Click Generate Locations.
  4. Fields:
    • Type - Select Range.
    • Name Prefix and Name Suffix - Enter Prefix or Suffix if applicable.
      • The Prefix or Suffix can be alphanumeric and will remain the same for each location generated.
    • Range Starts With and Range Ends With - Ranges can be entered numerically or alphabetically. It is not recommended that you combine numbers and letters in the range fields.
      • Numbers - Ensure the starting and ending numbers have the same amount of digits. For example, a range from 1 to 10 should be entered as 01 for the starting number and 10 for the ending number.
      • Letters - Generating locations based on letters is best done by entering a single character. For example, if you enter "A" for the starting range and "D" for the ending range, it will generate locations A, B, C, and D. It is not recommended to use 2 characters together such as AA - DD unless your locations run through the entire alphabet. The previous range would create AA-AZ, BA-BZ, CA-CZ, and DA-DD. If the desired outcome is AA-AD, BA-BD, CA-CD, and DA-DD, you would need to generate the locations 4 different times using the first letter as a prefix.
  5. Click Generate Locations.

All output locations will be listed below.
